Here is how to do a proper Jump-Catch-Pull Up:

  1. Lower yourself into a squat position.
  2. Explode upward, jumping into the air.
  3. While in the air, catch the bar with your hands.
  4. Immediately transition from the bar catch to a pull-up.
  5. Slowly lower yourself down to the dead-hang position.
  6. Repeat.
